PRESS RELEASE: Snacks and beer are scoring high on sales as World Cup enters final week

Late kick off times boosted beer sales by an average of 6.61%

Snacks and beers have come from behind in the battle of consumer choices this World Cup, as new stats from retail data app Reapp reveal sales have soared to over £4.6M. As England progresses through the group stages of the Qatar World Cup, snack sales are increasing – with Group Game 1 producing the lowest weekly sales value and Group Game 3 producing the highest sales value to date.

Data also shows the highest sales value game for England’s group game fixtures was their third group game versus Wales (November 29th), where weekly sales were £4,608,547.57, with 2,762,781 units sold.

The lowest sales value game for England’s group game fixtures was their opening group game versus Iran (November 21st), where weekly sales were £3,845,717.80, with 2,312,728 units sold.

 

England’s game versus USA saw weekly sales value of £4,412,258.07, with 2,638,763 units sold.

The timing of England’s matches has also had an impact on sales. The highest average sales value came when England saw late kick offs, with 7pm kick offs producing average sales value of £4,510,402.82. Lower sales values were observed for earlier kick off games, with 1pm kick offs producing an average sales value of £3,845,717.80.

 

England’s fixture against Wales saw beer sales value rise by over 7% as viewers tuned in to cheer on the Three Lions from their sofa.

Highest beer sales value game for England’s group game fixtures was their third group game versus Wales (29/11/2022), where weekly sales were £983,888.58, with 151,161 units sold.

The lowest sales value game for England’s group game fixtures was their first group game versus Iran (21/11/2022), where weekly sales were £912,974.51, with 139,547 units being sold, possibly due to the earlier kick off time.

 

England’s game versus USA saw weekly sales value of £962,697.24, with 147,598 units being sold.

Highest sales values for England’s group game fixtures were for late kick off times, with 7pm kick offs producing an average sales value of £973,292.91, with an average of 149,379.5 units sold.

The lowest sales values for England’s group game fixtures were when kick off occurred at 1pm, where weekly averaged at £912,974.5, with an average of 139,547 units sold.
